It is well established that my children are not "most people". When they stay at a resort hotel, they expect a high level of adventure, fun, and general shenanigans. They expect these things to start the moment their eyes pop open in the morning. And this morning their eyes popped open at 5:59am.
For the most part, I don't see any reason to apologize for my kids not being "most people". If their behavior annoys you, you're probably not having as much fun as they are, and maybe you should try it. But I do feel bad about potentially ruining someone's (by which I mean "some parent's") only chance to enjoy sleeping into a quiet morning.
So even though it was cool and foggy this morning, as soon as the boys had wolfed down a bowl of granola, I wrapped up Edie, popped sweaters on the boys, and
We headed off down a path into the woods. Gussie immediately informed me we were going on a hunt. I asked him what we were hunting for, and he said, "Grandpa!" (spoiler alert: we did not find Grandpa in the forest).
The fog was hanging heavy over the lake. The boys really liked it.
Eventually the sun started to burn it's way through the clouds a bit.
And by the time we were headed back to our room, things were beginning to brighten up a little and the fog was starting to wisp up off the water.
Now on to second breakfast so we can actually get started on our day!
