Videos of Edie

Edie's vocabulary and strong opinions combined with her small stature make for a funny picture sometimes, because you just don't expect the stories and songs she has to come out of her little frame. But they do. All day long. Here are a few examples that I managed to record. Some of them are long and 65-year-old me is probably the only one who will watch them all the way through, but here they are.

Any time Edie wants to show me how to do something, it starts with, "So. Mommy." This is her tutorial on how to wrap her baby bear.



Have you heard the story about the helicopter? We were driving out of our neighborhood one day and I saw a yellow helicopter up ahead, and was ready to point it out to the rear-facers in the van when we got to a point they could see it. Then we rounded a corner and I saw that it wasn't just a hovering helicopter; it was a helicopter hovering over a set of wires strung over a set of train tracks, and hanging from the helicopter was a man, in a bucket, doing something with the wires. I immediately pulled over and unbuckled the kids so they could see better. When he was done, the helicopter flew off with the man in the bucket still hanging and flying behind. This is Edie's version of the story.



One of Edie's favorite songs for the last few weeks has been No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed. But there aren't just monkeys in her version. Puppies, Mommies, Grandmas, and Grandpas all jump on the bed, and in these cases it's usually the children who call the doctor, or the mama who calls the children, or the grandma who calls the mama... so many options. This one is long because Gussie heard her singing and starting singing along with her, which made her really angry and she had to stop and wait until he was done then start over so she could sing it all by herself. Her pouting face is worth a view.



But now Catherine and Mary have the CD of the musical they will be in for their musical theater camp in a few weeks, so Edie has a new favorite song that is something like "Whoa, whoa, Jonah go! When God gives a message, you listen and follow!" This is the background music for all of her activities right now. By the time the camp comes up, she'll have the whole thing memorized just as well as the big girls.
