We've stayed at the Boyne Blue Green resort before and we all like it, plus we added some new adventures this time. Each of the kids got to pick an activity: Michael Jr, Gussie, and Edie wanted to take a trail ride; Catherine and Mary opted for a zip line course; and because Uncle Chris is super cool, Olivia joined us for both!
The kids required an adult chaperone on the trail ride and I was happy to go along. We were lined up according to where the horses liked to walk, not the groups we came in, so I couldn't get many pictures on the trail. If you squint and look *really* closely, you can see Michael Jr and Gussie in red shirts on the second and third horses, and Olivia right behind them in a blue shirt. Edie is in a pink shirt on the third to last horse.
When we got back, Edie wasn't moving until she got a picture on her horse, DeeDee.
The boys jumped off before me so I made them stand with one of their horses for a picture.
The girls were able to go on the zip line course on their own so I only grabbed a picture of them zooming in on the last zip. Here come Mary and Olivia:
And Catherine was right behind them.
Yes, I made them get a picture when they came down, helmet lines and all.
Agnes wasn't big enough for the adventures, so Grandma took her up the ski lift and they had lunch at the top of the hill. An extra ski lift ride plus doritos was plenty to keep her happy while I was out on the trail ride.
Actually she probably would have been happy with just the ski lift. It's free to ride and we spend a lot of time going up and down, or riding up and walking down.
With the number of ski lift selfies taken, I'm shocked none of us have dropped our phones yet.
Gussie wanted to take this picture of our feet and send it to Daddy so he could see just how high up we were.
The view from near the top:
S'mores around the fire pit!
Did we take a sunset wagon ride? It appears that maybe we did, but my poor brain has no recall.
One time when we were walking back to the cabin from the ski life, Michael, Gussie, and Edie asked if they could run up the hill. I laughed and said sure, expecting them to get about as far as they are in this picture.
It's like I've learned absolutely nothing in the last 16 years. Agnes and I ended up sitting there on the road for about half an hour while they sprinted the entire way up to the top, and then had to pick their way back down which was a bit more treacherous. Can you see the white dot on the right? That's Edie, about two thirds of the way up.
Agnes decided Uncle Chris was her new best friend on this trip. It was hilarious for me, maybe less so for him as the one who kept having to give her piggy back and shoulder rides when she got tired.
Michael Jr brought his bike because we knew you could hook your bike to the back of a ski lift chair and take it to the top, then ride your bike down the hill. But we didn't know that even though people ride the lift for free, bikes need a paid ticket, and not a cheap one, which dashed his dreams of taking the lift up and riding his bike down a hundred times in a row. So instead I borrowed Grandpa's bike and Michael Jr and I pedaled to the top, one of many times we dearly missed Daddy on this trip. I don't think I could have been slower, but we made it! And then got to zoom back down to the bottom (which I actually also did fairly slowly, because I'm old and cautious).
In spite of the cool weather, we spent some time in the pool (and by "we" I mean the kids only).
