December 2021: Forest Park & Hot Dogs For Breakfast

I love hiking most times of the year, but fall and winter hikes that happen because you can't let a warm, sunny day go to waste during those seasons are some of my favorite. I love crunching along on fallen leaves, having been released from the house by a break in the cold, taking in as much sun as we can before the dreary winter rolls in again. The lack of bugs is a definite bonus.

We didn't have a ton of time this afternoon, so we explored some Forest Park trails with Dema and Grampy T. Edie has incredible piggy buns, Michael Jr rolls his eye any time he sees my camera, and any time they find a hole they all immediately jump down in it. A pretty typical walk.

I can't remember why, but Edie had run ahead a bit and then stopped to write or draw something in the gravel path with a stick.

We had a s'mores fire to finish celebrating the lovely day, and Gussie has realized that one of his favorite things is trying to reignite a fire the next morning with any miniscule embers that survived the night. This morning he was successful, and they wanted to roast more marshmallows for breakfast. We compromised with cooking hot dogs.

It's a pretty good fire that he got started!
