Home

Sunday was a wonderful day: wonderful weather, wonderful company, and a wonderful occasion.

We spent the morning watching all the kids play in the sunshine in the backyard, as Christopher was finally overcoming his feeling of being overwhelmed by "too many cousins." Then after lunch we had a special mass in the chapel of the Archbishop's residence for our official confirmation and reception into the Catholic Church. If I didn't think it would have been slightly inappropriate, I would have run all about the house taking hundreds of pictures - it was everything a century house on Lindell in Saint Louis should be. Miraculously, none of our children broke, bammed, bumped, or otherwise destroyed anything there.

The chapel was perfectly small, seating only a few of our friends and family that have helped us along this path in the last few years. The kids were surprisingly calm and engaged and everything about the mass was perfect as far as I can tell. I'm still a little in awe of the fact that we participated in mass and received Eucharist in the private chapel of the Archbishop, where he and bishops before him and even the Pope have prayed for the people of Saint Louis and beyond. It was a special space.

I most certainly enjoyed the years we spent on the Cape and will continue to miss the people and places we left there, but I have to say, it is quite good to be home.

Thank you so much for inviting us to participate. It was a real privilege to do the readings there. As I said in the e-mail I sent you, the kids were so well-behaved and such wonderful little human beings. I think Catherine was in awe.
