Seeing Saint Louis, Day 1

My lovely and dear friend Monica flew in from Cape Cod last night to spend the weekend with us. It's making me really homesick for all the other lovely and dear friends we have back on the Cape, but I'm not holding that against her.

Instead we're trying to fit everything we love about Saint Louis into two days. It's not going to happen, but we made a pretty good run at it today:

1. Walk to Northwest for our morning coffee. They roast their own beans there. It's delightful.
2. Stop by the Cathedral on our way home for a quick look at the mosaics. Stunning, every time.
3. Lunch with Grandma at Adrianna's on The Hill. The Saint Louis style pizza, meatball sandwich, and Gorgonzola Dip sandwich were as delicious as anticipated.
4. Walk over to Lorenzo's for some cannoli to go.
5. Quick drive down to the riverfront to eat our cannoli in the shade of the Arch.
6. Tram ride 630 feet up to the top of the Arch in a tiny egg-shaped elevator. Tram ride 630 feet down.
7. Naps all around.
8. Various smoked meats and sweet potato fries from Pappy's for dinner.
9. Violin time > wrestle time > bath time > bed time for the kiddos.
10. Applie pie and vanilla ice cream for the not-kiddos.

Pretty much all the pictures I have are from the Arch.

Running in the park.

Getting ready for the ride up. Michael Jr looks skeptical, but it's because he wasn't sure I was getting in also, not because of the tram itself.

Gazing out the tiny windows at the top. Their favorite part was seeing a boat and a horse and carriage. Michael liked watching the trucks on the road.

Waiting for the tram down...

Sunshine all day.

We're headed to the market in the morning, and I'm sure we'll eat five or six more times. It's fun to have a visitor so we have an excuse to squeeze all this in to a couple days!
